Shaving Rash
Shaving rash can appear (up to four days after a bad shave), as redness,
soreness, itching and ingrown hairs (or pseudofolliculitis barbae to give this
condition its technical term.) The symptoms can fade quickly or linger, and in
the case of ingrown hairs can become infected and leave scars.
You should
be able to pinpoint the cause of shaving rash from the symptoms that appear:
• If a rash appears immediately then you probably don’t have sufficient
lubrication when you shave - try switching to our No. 2 Shave
Now and applying it with a soft brush.
• If the rash takes a few days to
appear this is usually down to poor technique - invest in a fresh razor and be
extra gentle when you shave.
• If you experience itching, redness and
irritation then an ingredient in your shaving cream is the likely culprit.
Shaving products and aftershaves containing Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Ethyl
alcohol, Propylene glycol and artificial fragrances and colours dry the skin and
cause irritation - the shaving and skincare products in Green People’s Organic
Homme range should be gentle enough for almost anyone.
• Bumps, blemishes and
ingrown hair are caused when hair grows back in to the skin, clogging pores and
becoming infected. Though they are more common in men with curly hair they can
happen to anyone and are difficult to fully prevent, though proper lubrication
and shaving technique can go some way to reducing their occurrence.
All
kinds of shaving rash can be soothed with gentle, natural products like those in
